Well, I am not really sure how to blog. Not really much of a blog reader. But with family all over the place and twins on the way, James and I thought this would be a great way to keep everyone posted on the activites or adventures of Piss and Moan.
After trying to get pregnant for a year, we turned to a fertility doctor. After many tests, and many sleepless nights, we learned we (well I) were "challenged". We decided to proceed with IUI treatments - interuterine inception. I lovingly call this the "turkey baster method". Our first round were we not successful. Which I guess when looking back was a good thing. James was at work in Bahrain for the first round and I would hate to have to explain to our child(ren) that Daddy was on the other side of the world when we got pregnant. So, on to round two. . .
Round two was on November 29th. A typically indiscript sort of day. I didn't make any notes on the weather or what we did that day. Didn't really think the day would be significant. We now know I was wrong. But, back to the 29th. We went in for round two and had our date with the baster. Again, nothing fancy; no deep reflection. Just James, me, the baster and Dr. Batres. Very romantic! A few days later (December 4th) James left to head back to work. We discuss the testing options. The doctors say you can test after two weeks. We had done that in round one; received a negative test and I "started" two days later. So my plan was to wait. Not really sure how long but I just knew I was going to wait.
Day 14 came and went. So did day 15. Then on the 15th of December, I woke up and felt a little strange. Really my boobs were so sore that I knew something was up. So I fumbled with the "stick" and a few minutes later it read "Pregnant". Rubbing my eyes, trying to refocus, I checked again. Still pregnant. Texted James "it says yes". Long story short, we were estatic but needed confirmation. I remember the weather on December 15th - Yuckie!!! It was starting to sleet and the forecast was for more of the same. So instead of driving to the fertility clinic in Little Rock for the blood work, I went to my OB/Gyn here in Conway, Dr. Brandie Martin. By 3pm that day we had confirmation, or shall I say official confirmation, I was pregnant!!! I went back for more blood work on Wednesday the 17th and had my first ultrasound on the 19th.
